Zeitgeist

Zeitgeist is a German word that means “The Spirit of the Times” and is used in reference to the general intellectual, moral and cultural climate of an era. In the painting ‘Zeitgeist’ there are images of escalating natural catastrophes; volcano’s, melting glaciers, tsunamis and hurricanes, entwined with images of our emerging global consciousness; neurons, fiber optics, the earth from above and the swirling galaxies. The glowing fiber optic strands reach across the seas to connect the sundered continents. In the ‘ancient future’ of our times Pangaea is re-membered, her body made now of light. As Gaia grows her global brain, and the lives of millions weave together in pulses of light, the instant message is of our entwined destiny. We see ourselves now in whole; the land and seas by satellite from above show no boundaries while the swirling galaxies with which we float on tides of space reveal as ne’er before the preciousness of our fragile blue pearl… one planet, one world, one home.
